Travelling with a dog isn’t always easy… In this article, I will make things easier for you by having you discover my favourite places to visit in Brome-Missisquoi in the Eastern Townships, accompanied by your best friend.

Hiking
Are you and your dog passionate about hiking? Well, you’re lucky! Brome-Missisquoi has plenty of trails that allow dogs. My favourite: the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton (P.E.N.S.). What I like about the P.E.N.S.: several different intensity levels and well-marked trails, exceptional points of view and their respect for the environment. It’s the perfect park to answer your wants and needs. Dogs are tolerated on most trails (except inside the Réserve naturelle des Montagnes-Vertes, which includes the Round Top trail). They must, however, be kept on a leash at all times. I strongly suggest taking the Lake Mohawk trail. This is a natural pond in the middle of the mountain with several majestic points of view.

Other suggestion :
The Sentiers Bromont network offers over 100 km of trails and are open all year round. You can take your dog almost everywhere, except inside the Domaine naturel du lac Gale.
Visit a vineyard with your dog
Are you a wine enthusiast? Visiting a vineyard with your dog is an ideal outing. Most vineyards offer wide open spaces where you can walk through amazing landscapes. It’s also a great opportunity to meet our winemakers and to savour the fruits of their labour.
Here are some vineyards where they accept dogs on their domain:
- Domaine des Côtes d’Ardoise (Dunham)
- Vignoble l’Ardennais (Stanbridge East)
- Vignoble de l’Orpailleur (Dunham)

Playing in the Water
At Diable Vert, in Sutton, you’ll discover the perfect place to visit with your dog. They’re accepted everywhere, even in the water! At this mountain station, they offer you kayak and paddleboard rentals for about $45 per day. It’s also possible to bring your own equipment. However you won’t be able to use their shuttle service. You can end your activity with a swim in the Missisquoi River.
