8 Dog-Friendly Activities in Brome-Missisquoi

Can’t bear to leave your faithful four-legged companion behind? No problem! The Brome-Missisquoi region offers a wide range of activities and places where dogs are welcome. Here are just a few.

Head out for a Hike…Almost Everywhere!

Several of the region’s hiking trails allow dogs. This is true for the Au Diable Vert Mountain resort (14 km), the Parc des Sommets in Bromont (with the exception of the Lake Gale sector), Frelighsburg’s Municipal Park (3,8 km), the Centre de la nature de Farnham (2,5 km) and some trails in the Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton such as the Montée du lac Spruce, chute du Pékan, the Marmite aux sorcières and the Vieux-Chemin trails. Take your leash out and let’s go!

Camp on Top of a Mountain
Where? Mount Sutton! From the main chalet, it will take you between an hour and an hour and a half to hike up to one of the 21 campsites spread throughout the summit. Your dog will surely be quite happy to take in all this fresh mountain air and sleep under the stars… As will you!

Would you prefer camping nearby? Many of the area’s campgrounds also accept you bring your dog, including Huttopia Sutton, Vacances Bromont, Vallée Bleue Resort, Domaine Yamaska et le camping des Sommets Bromont.

Visit Our Vineyards and Relax on Their Terraces

Sipping a glass of wine on the terrace while Fido laps up his bowl of water? If this image appeals to you, you should know that most vineyards on  La Route des vins Brome-Missisquoi accept dogs on a leash. The Vignoble de l’Orpailleur, Château Ste-Agnès, the Domaine Girouard, Vignoble de la Bauge and Domaine Bresee fare part of the list of vineyards that welcome your hairy pooch! The Vignoble Courville even proposes a special happy hour every Wednesday throughout the summer for dog owners and their four-legged companions.

Please note, most vineyards don’t accept dogs inside their buildings and boutiques, as well as during their guided tours. Find the right information before heading out!

On a Road Trip from Town to Town
Knowlton, Sutton, Bromont, Frelighsburg, Dunham, Bedford, Farnham… In the Brome-Missisquoi region, many cities and towns are well worth visiting. You can take your dog on a road trip and visit these charming destinations. Stroll through the streets at your leisure or follow one of the heritage circuits and enjoy a trip back in time to discover how our territory was developed throughout the years.

Enjoy a Pint at Knowlton Co.

A covered terrace overlooking a lawn covered space and the forest – your dog will love it! The Knowlton Co. Microbrewery welcomes dogs and their craft beer enthusiast owners in a casual setting. If you feel a bit hungry, their delicious pizzas should calm your appetite (enough to see Fido drool with envy!)

Head Out on (and in) the Water!
If you’re looking for a place to paddle in calm waters and cool off with your dog, the Missisquoi River near the Au Diable Vert resort in Glen Sutton is perfect. Explore the pebble beaches along this river by paddleboard or kayak and let your dog splash around in the water and frolic happily about.

Dog Cycling Bromont
Dog cycling enthusiasts will be happy to know that this activity can be enjoyed on several of Mont Oak’s wide trails in Bromont’s Parc des Sommets. With your dog on a leash (and in a harness for dogs weighing over 45 pounds), you can cycle through the forest and enjoy nature together.

Prolong Your Stay In Brome-Missisquoi
Spending the night with your dog is quite possible in our region.  Domaine Château-Bromont, for example, offers stays allowing your dog to accompany you in their rooms or suites subject to a cleaning fee. The same goes for Hôtel Vallea in Bromont and many more establishments. Have a great stay!
