Brome
Brome
Located a few kilometres north of Sutton, the village of Brome offers exceptional views of the Sutton Mountain massif and a peaceful environment featuring vast open spaces and farmland.
Formerly known as Brome Corners, the hamlet was established in the late 18th century along Stagecoach Road, when these horse-drawn carriages connected the region to Magog and Stanstead. Today, approximately 260 people reside here year-round.
Brome County Agricultural Society, Canada’s oldest agricultural society, was founded in 1856. A few decades later, the town began hosting the now famous Brome Agricultural Fair, a tradition that still attracts thousands of visitors every year on Labour Day. Horse races, livestock competitions, garden produce, shows and a festive setting make it an absolute must for families from the region and far beyond.
The village of Brome, established along Route 215, is also popular with cyclists who enjoy its hilly roads and landscapes linking Sutton, Bromont and the surrounding towns.
