Sugar shacks to visit in the Eastern Townships

At last, the maple sugaring season is back! And the good news is that sugar shacks will be able to offer shack meals while complying with all the current sanitary measures. Here are a few maple groves in the Eastern Townships to visit this spring. However, please note that a vaccination passport will be required and reservations will be necessary for indoor meals.

ÉRABLIÈRE HILLTOP – Dunham

As its name suggests, this sugar shack is located on top of a hill and offers a breathtaking view overlooking the Eastern Townships. Your hosts, Judith and Martin, will offer you a traditional Québec meal inspired by their grandmothers’ cuisine. They also offer taffy on snow tastings. To help digest your meal, why not head out for a stroll on the beautiful paths of the domain. The sugar shack is open from Friday to Sunday. For the 2022 season, the shack will welcome guests starting on March 5. Reservations are required.

LA CABANE DU PIC BOIS – Brigham

Located near Bromont, this maple grove is a classic in the region. Here they prepare their maple syrup through a slow cooking process on a wood burning fire. For the 2022 season, the Cabane will serve pancakes and taffy outside. It will also be possible to visit the boutique where you’ll find a wide range of maple products. The domain also includes an interpretation trail where you’’ll discover some three hundred-year-old trees.

ÉRABLIÈRE FERME DES SOURCES – Dunham

At this Dunham maple grove, you’ll enjoy the traditional sugaring season with the Larouche family. You’ll discover a sweet treat shop, taffy on snow, walking trails and the famous “ChocoCabane” (a homemade hot chocolate). Sugar shack meals will be offered from February to April. Reservations required.

VIGNOBLE DU RUISSEAU – Dunham

A sugar bush set inside a vineyard? Yes! during the sugaring season, the magnificent Vignoble du Ruisseau offers a sweet and original three or six course menu. You can also bring a little happiness home with you by visiting their well-stocked boutique.

ÉRABLIÈRE ANECDOTE 107 – Bolton-Ouest

This West Bolton sugar shack offers a very unusual activity! Here, you can participate in the harvesting of maple water from the buckets accompanied by donkeys. In fact, the barrels of maple water you’ll fill are transported by these donkeys! At the end of the activity, the entire syrup-making process is explained to the participants. Take-Outs

For a second year now, the DOMAINE DE L’ARTISAN in BRIGHAM is participating in the MA CABANE À LA MAISON initiative and is offering their sweet tooth meal boxes to enjoy at home. Pea soup, baked beans, ham cooked in syrup, “oreilles de crisse” (pork rinds), all the classics and much more. You can also reserve online. Boxes can be picked up at the Brigham Sugar Bush on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
