With all the outdoor activities people can do in Brome-Missisquoi, you’re sure to keep warm. Here’s a 3-day itinerary to take advantage of winter’s best in the Eastern Townships.
Day 1—Pedalling on the snow
Riding a fatbike (a bicycle with oversized tires) is a demanding activity, but oh so satisfying! In Bromont, the Mount Oak network offers many kilometres of trails. It’s perfect for newcomers to the sport and more experienced ones as well.
UBAC cycle shop and the Centre National de Cyclisme de Bromont both offer fatbike rentals.
Day 2—Alpine touring at Mount Sutton
Alpine touring has been present for several years at Mount SUTTON. It’s a complete sport for those who love the great outdoors and a good workout. It consists of going uphill on skies with seal skins for a better grip, so no chairlifts or groomed trails! It’s the perfect activity for discovering magnificent places often further away from the traditional trails used by skiers and snowboarders.
Day 3—Snowshoeing the Dos de l’orignal
If you’re hoping to be challenged during this three-day outing, we’ve saved the best for last. The Parc d’Environnement Naturel de Sutton is a true paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. You can take the classic Round Top trail, but true outdoor adepts will want to hike the Dos de l’orignal loop, totalling about 7.3 km. Don’t forget your snowshoes and/or crampons.
