A family weekend outing will sometimes require a lot of planning. Plus, it’s not always easy to please everyone. So, here’s a suggestion for a ready-to-go getaway the whole family will love. The only thing you’ll still need to do is to reserve your lodging.
Day 1, Bromont
For your first day, we suggest you enjoy a refreshing outing at Bromont, montagne d’expériences Water Park. If you like the sensation of being high up in the air, you must visit Hisséo Adventure Park (open until October 14) located on the same mountain site. Here, you’ll find a four-level adventure course as well as climbing walls, ziplines, rope games, and giant swings! Towards the end of the day, enjoy a relaxing moment at BALNEA spa + réserve thermale. Children 14 years of age and older are welcome!
Finally, head to the Vieux Bromont sector of the town where you’ll enjoy a family meal in one of the many charming restaurants you’ll find here. A tip! Park your car in the Chemin Compton public parking lot and stroll down Shefford Street. On your way, why not stop by the Musée du chocolat de Bromont and treat yourself to their delicious chocolates, made right onsite.
Day 2, Sutton and Frelighsburg
Drive south to explore another great hiking region at Parc d’environnement naturel de Sutton! You discover trails for all skill levels inside this well cared for forest environment. For an easy hike covering less than 4 kilometres, opt for La Boucle du Vieux Chemin loop. This trail was used to transport wood and ice across the mountain. Today, you can admire an old maple tree grove bordered by a lovely pristine stream nestled at the bottom of the valley. If you prefer a slightly longer hike, with a bit more altitude, opt for the Lake Spruce route where you’ll find several fine views overlooking different mountain lakes and ponds. Good to know, on these specific trails, dogs are allowed on a leash! Before you start out on your hike, don’t forget to pay your entrance fee ($8 per adult, free for 17-year-olds and younger).
For lunch, the town of Sutton is your ideal option! Craft shops, bakeries, pastry shops, microbreweries, cafés, dairies and many other boutiques will welcome you in this very friendly small-town ambiance. It’s sure to become one of your favourite stops!
End your day at the eco-friendly orchard Au Coeur de la Pomme, in Frelighsburg. Here you can pick your own apples and discover all their apple-based products. Cider vinegars with a variety of aromas, confits, mustards, vinaigrettes, apple butter … we’re pretty sure that one of these products will find its way inside your pantry!
