L’Orpailleur, the pioneer vineyard of Quebec’s wine industry, planted its very first vines in the beautiful Dunham Valley back in 1982. Today, l’Orpailleur’s thirteen wines offer a range of flavours resulting from the winery’s ongoing quest to push beyond its boundaries. Thanks to the support of Quebec wine lovers, l’Orpailleur is the leader in Quebec wine sales at the SAQ. The winery’s products are available in over 300 branches as well as in several Quebec restaurants. L’Orpailleur has won over 140 medals. Over the years, the vineyard has also become a highly sought-after destination for visitors. In addition to the site itself, the Vine and Wine Économusée museum, the restaurant, wine tastings and welcoming atmosphere are sure to please! Vintner and co-owner Charles-Henri de Coussergues has been the driving force for the advancement of Quebec’s wine industry. A founder and administrator of the Quebec Winegrowers Association, he has advocated for the implementation and evolution of several laws facilitating the outreach of Quebec vineyards throughout Canada and abroad. He is also the president of the Association de l’Agrotourisme et du Tourisme Gourmand du Québec. A synonym of gold prospector, the name Orpailleur was bestowed upon the vineyard by acclaimed poet Gilles Vigneault as a nod to the gold-bearing rivers of the Eastern Townships, the vineyard’s home region.
