Located 3 kilometres outside the town of Bedford and near the American border, we easily fall under the spell of this area with its rich history and period character and its undeniable charm.

A true jewel of the Townships! I suggest that you explore the hamlet of Mystic and its surrounding countryside on your next outing in the area. You’ll make some wonderful discoveries here and visit some not-to-be-missed landmarks.

For a Great Meal

A stop at the restaurant L’Oeuf is a must. The beautiful period home offers a local homemade menu selection that will make your mouth water! The building includes an inn with 6 rooms and a chocolate factory boutique as well.

To Learn About our Past and Step Back in Time: The Missisquoi Museum

The Missisquoi Museum occupies 3 buildings which showcase numerous collections exploring the region residents and businesses’ past.

The Walbridge Barn is the oldest polygonal barn of Quebec. With its 12 sides, this building, classified as a heritage building since 2004, today shelters the Missisquoi Museum farm equipment collection. It was named after Alexander Solomon Walbridge (1828–1897), a local inventor and businessman. The barn was used as a foundry and a metal workshop. A dam was built on the Walbridge Brook to supply the foundry’s power. It closed down in 1897.

The second building is the Cornell Mill, built in 1830. It’s the oldest mill still standing in the Eastern Townships region. Open to the public, it has contained different Missisquoi Museum collections since 1964. It presents the story of the Loyalist immigration and the history of Brome-Missisquoi, since the beginning of its colonization in 1794.

The third building is the popular Hodge’s General Store. This landmark business served the community for more than 120 years. As you discover souvenirs and supplies of another era, you’ll feel you’ve travelled back in time. Visitors will discover numerous items sold in a general store at the beginning of last century, all displayed in their original shelves. The Museum offers its visitors several multimedia activities here as well.

The Missisquoi Museum is open daily from 11 :00 a.m. to 4 :30 p.m. from the end of May until mid-October.

https://museemissisquoi.ca/home

For Your Entertainment Pleasure: Bedford and its Surroundings

The delightful town of Bedford shines with its historical buildings and homes which give it its unique character. Let yourself be transported inside an oasis of well-being as you receive the warmest of welcomes. The health centre offers a spa with hydrotherapy installations and imparts a philosophy for health through the benefits of water.

Euro-Spa stands out with its accommodations, a bistro, reception halls, body cares and facials, all set inside an enchanting decor.

The Bistro Missisquoi presents a Mediterranean-style lunch buffet and a gourmet evening buffet. A menu with many different flavours and freshness offered in an elegant and appeasing ambiance.

I especially loved the spa installations, particularly the therapeutic herb scented baths, the indoor and outdoor pools, the delicious flavours I discovered with their buffet and finally the magnificent flower garden on the grounds of the establishment. A true little corner of paradise where relaxation is guaranteed.

https://www.euro-spa.com/

The hamlet of Mystic is a little-known place in Brome-Missisquoi, well worth the detour to discover all its hidden treasures.
