If you\u2019re used to travelling around to see what our great area has to offer, you have probably already had the opportunity of visiting the vineyard\/cider house,<a href=\"http:\/\/tourismebrome-missisquoi.ca\/en\/attraits\/what-to-do-agro-tourism-vineyards-le-chateau-de-cartes-vignoble-et-cidrerie\/\"> Ch\u00e2teau de Cartes, Vignoble et Cidrerie<\/a>. But if you haven\u2019t, here are plenty of reasons why it\u2019s well worth the trip!<\/p>\n<p>Since it opened to the public in 2010, this vineyard, located in Dunham, has charmed visitors who have make the trek, every year, to taste their wines and ciders or enjoy a guided tour that is both educational and entertaining.<\/p>\n<p>The vineyard\u2019s owners, St\u00e9phane Lamarre and Anik Desjardins, realized their dream and turned their love of the vine into reality by buying an orchard, in 2006, and transforming it into a vineyard. \u201cIts name is appropriate; cultivating the vine in Qu\u00e9bec is as fragile as a house of cards. It\u2019s quite a challenge, remarks Mr.\u00a0\u00a0 Lamarre, who didn\u2019t hestiate even a moment in seizing the opportunity to pursue what had been his childhood dream.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Great variety and originality <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The vineyard stands out for its originality, diversity and quantity of products it offers. Is your mouth already watering? Wait until you see what they have to offer to appease your taste buds. This year, the vineyard has 14 products for you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ch\u00e2teau de cartes ros\u00e9, a sparkling ros\u00e9 that\u2019s also on sale at the SAQ.<\/li>\n<li>Atout blanc, a fruity, semi-dry white wine.<\/li>\n<li>Saint-P\u00e9pin, a dry, Chablis-type white wine.<\/li>\n<li>Frontenac gris, a late white grape harvest made from a Frontenac gris base.<\/li>\n<li>Vin gris, a fruity, semi-dry white wine with a faint pinkish colour made with black grapes.<\/li>\n<li>Marquette, a dry, slightly fruity red wine that\u2019s also on sale at the SAQ.<\/li>\n<li>Marquette r\u00e9serve, a dry red wine with tannic and oaky notes.<\/li>\n<li>Frontenac noir, a fortified, porto-type of red wine.<\/li>\n<li>Glace noire, a dark ice wine from a black grape base.<\/li>\n<li>Pommenbulle, a sparkling cider that is also on sale at the SAQ.<\/li>\n<li>Le pomineau, a ros\u00e9 cider that\u2019s a fine aperitif.<\/li>\n<li>Ice cider, a still cider also on sale at the SAQ.<\/li>\n<li>Sparkling ice cider.<\/li>\n<li>Pomineau r\u00e9serve, an apple and eau de vie-based digestif.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The vineyard also sells tasty jams, but they are usually snapped up just as fast as they are put on the shelves. Various package deals for tasting sessions are also available.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Discover lesser-known grape varieties<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Another one of the owners\u2019 objectives is to familiarize wine enthusiasts with lesser-known grape varieties such as Marquette, Saint-P\u00e9pin, Frontenac noir and Frontenac gris.<\/p>\n<p>So, if you have the urge to discover different wines, a trip to Ch\u00e2teau de Cartes is definitely in order.
