How do we love Montreal? Let us count the ways. The poutine is to die for, the botanic gardens put cartoon hearts in our eyes, and the Greater Montreal area is full of wide open spaces. So naturally we recommend the birthplace of Quebec wine-making, our beloved Brome-Missisquoi, to like-minded travellers! Sure, sure, there\u2019s more to do here than saunter between the 21 wineries<\/a>. In fact, we say spending 36 hours in the Eastern Townships should include everything from mountain trekking to spa treatments at scenic inns.<\/p>\n

Friday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why not make yourself at home the moment you arrive in the Brome-Missisquoi region on Friday afternoon? If you\u2019re staying in Bromont, you can\u2019t go wrong by checking into the Hotel Ch\u00e2teau-Bromont<\/a>. The place has a scenic terrace with four hot tubs, after all. If you\u2019re making Sutton your home away from home, the Le Pleasant Hotel and Caf\u00e9<\/a> is as cozy a spot as they come; the hotel is in a 20th<\/sup> century Victorian home and has a beautiful blend of original floors and modern d\u00e9cor.<\/p>\n

Continue your journey via cycle, or trade in your bicycle tires for a car and designated driver. You\u2019re off to explore the region\u2019s legendary wine route! A whopping 21 wineries are on the portion of the route that weaves through the Brome-Missisquoi area. Sip on a nice ros\u00e9 at Domaine Vitis<\/a> in the north, then head southeast to Vignoble Domaine Bresee<\/a> and savour one of six locally produced vinos as you drink in the beauty of the Sutton Mountains.<\/p>\n

Stop by Le Mus\u00e9e du Chocolat<\/a> (AKA the Chocolate Museum) before it closes at 5:30, where you can not only witness the art of chocolate moulding but sink your teeth into some divine confections. How does a cognac truffle or square of chai chocolate sound? Eat a homemade quiche first, or dive right into the cocoa. No one will judge.<\/p>\n

Spend your last few hours in Brome-Missisquoi pampering yourself before you head back to real life.
