{"id":5114,"date":"2019-09-19T12:10:13","date_gmt":"2019-09-19T16:10:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tourismebrome-missisquoi.ca\/how-is-rose-wine-made\/"},"modified":"2019-09-19T12:10:13","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T16:10:13","slug":"how-is-rose-wine-made","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tourismebrome-missisquoi.ca\/en\/blogue\/how-is-rose-wine-made\/","title":{"rendered":"How is ros\u00e9 wine made"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of the Printemps Gourmand &amp; Ros\u00e9 event in collaboration with the Wine Route and Tourisme Cantons-de-l\u2019Est, we travelled to the Jean Talon Market to provide Montrealers with the opportunity to discover Eastern Townships\u2019 ros\u00e9 wines.<\/p>\n<p>After the tastings, we asked participants to respond to a few questionsand the last one was &#8221; How is ros\u00e9 wine made ? &#8220;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/D5RZ5WwUloo\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>We quickly realized very few people know how ros\u00e9 wines are made. Here\u2019s a brief explanation.<\/p>\n<p>Contrary to popular belief, you don\u2019t get ros\u00e9 wine by mixing white and red wine. Actually, it\u2019s made into wine from red grapes.<\/p>\n<p>The most common technique for making ros\u00e9 wine is the direct pressing method. This consists of reducing the maceration time of the grape\u2019s skin with the must. The must is then naturally coloured by the anthocyanins in the grape\u2019s skin, but it\u2019s done at a lesser level than in the red grapes, where the skin is allowed to macerate longer. In some instances, it\u2019s possible that immediately after the grape pressing the must is coloured enough to be extracted from the tank and moved on to the fermentation stage.<\/p>\n<p>Another less common technique is the bleeding process. This consists of extracting part of the grape juice macerating in the tank of red wine in order to increase the solid\/liquid concentration of the mixture and thereby get a coarser wine.
