Pike River

Crossed by the Pike River and three small streams the Municipality of Pike River is located at the southwest end of Brome-Missisquoi, a few kilometers from Vermont and the Missisquoi Bay in the north of Lake Champlain.

After the last ice age and the withdrawal of the Champlain Sea, the Abenaki arrived on the Gasser site along the Pike River. They frequented the basins of the river to fish, hunt, cultivate and treat beaver pelts. Later, bringing a European touch, Swiss, Belgium and Poland immigrants came to settle.  Pike River, English translation of la Rivière aux Brochets, now has nearly 550 residents.

Agriculture, dairy farms, the nearby Lake Champlain and the impressive course of its history feature among tourist interest. The three institutional buildings made up of the old school (1923) which houses the town hall, the rectory and the church (1907) with its imposing size and red color mark the landscape.

Sports and outdoor fans are well served with boating, fishing, skating on Lake Champlain, canoeing and kayaking on the Pike River and the many bike routes through the municipality, nearby or to the Wine Route.
