A Festive Autumn in Brome-Missisquoi
You’ll have many reasons to visit our region this autumn. With extraordinary landscapes as a background, several festivals will be in full swing over the following weeks. Which ones? Find out right here!
For a few weekends Sutton will resonate to the sounds of jazz music from one end of the town to the other! Some 25 free shows will liven up the streets in different venues (La Rumeur Affamée, Huttopia, Sutton Brouërie…), and four concerts will be held in a concert hall; for example, a tribute to Nancy Wilson and Julian “Cannonball” Adderley, on September 15.
When? From September 14 to October 7, from Friday to Sunday.
Where? In different venues throughout Sutton for the free shows, and at the Alec & Gérard Pelletier Hall for the paying concerts.
The Sutton Fall Festival
Many activities have been scheduled for this festival, celebrating our beautiful autumn colours. Chairlift rides, guided walks, mountain bike rentals, entertainment for children, outdoor concerts, etc. Every Sunday, local wine tastings are held at the stand hosted by La Route des vins Brome-Missisquoi.
When? On weekends from September 15 to October 14.
Where? Mount Sutton.
Stanbridge East’s Apple Pie Festival
The site is magnificent . . . just as the 300 apple pies waiting for you to taste them! For the 36th year, this festival is still an irresistible attraction for all those who crave this amazing dessert. A festive fundraiser for the entire village leaving in its wake a delicious aroma of apples and cinnamon . . . Mmm!
When? Sunday, September 16, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM.
Where? At the Missisquoi Museum in Stanbridge East.
Harvesting Season on La Route des vins Brome-Missisquoi
No, Grape Harvesting season isn’t really a festival . . . but almost! During this period, the Route des vins takes on a particularly fun and friendly character. For the occasion, many vineyards offer guided tours of their installations, the possibility to pick grapes, tastings, meals prepared on site. . . and always, their excellent wines!
When? Until around mid-Octobre.
Where? At different vineyards on the Route des vins Brome-Missisquoi.
Sutton en blues
After having immersed yourself in Jazz sounds for a few weeks, the Blues Festival will follow for several Saturdays at the Auberge des Appalaches, in Sutton. For its 17th edition, the festival has invited a few well-known personalities such as the famous harmonica player Guy Bélanger, as well as Jack De Keyzer, considered as one of the best blues guitarists of the country. Great evenings are to be expected! And to enhance the experience, why not take advantage of the excellent table d’hôte of the Auberge and perhaps one of their rooms?
When? Saturdays, from October 13 until November 17.
Where? Auberge des Appalaches
The Knowlton Literary Festival
The program for this 9th edition—of which Louise Penny is still the Honorary Patron—is not yet available, but we know that many authors will be there to meet their avid readers! A wine & cheese evening for starters, readings, creative workshops for young people, a brunch. . . Please note that all the activities will be held in English only.
When? From October 11 to 14.
Where? At the Knowlton Community Centre and Le Relais/Auberge Knowlton
