6 NOT-TO-BE-MISSED FESTIVALS THIS SUMMER
The people of Brome-Missisquoi love all types of cultural events. As soon as the warm weather sets in and the sun shows its golden face, the area festivals present their programs, a sign suggesting we’ll have an incredible summer. Here’s an overview of some of the festivals to keep an eye out for this season.
BROMONT BLUES & BBQ (JULY 4 TO AUGUST 15, 2019)
This summer, the old village in Bromont will vibrate to the sound of the blues! Come every Thursday evening under the gazebo at 650 Shefford St. for seven evenings of highly colourful, toe-tapping performances! Then, why not take advantage of the delicious gourmet offers of the village, whatever your guilty pleasure might be, by reserving a table at one of Bromont’s many restaurants.
SOIF DE MUSIQUE (JULY 11 TO JULY 13, 2019)
For this first edition, Cowansville’s Soif de Musique Festival has made sure nothing is done in half measures with their diversified musical program! The event is free for children 11 years old and younger, a major asset for parents who want to initiate their kids to the impressive repertoires of established and up-and-coming Quebec artists.
BROME’S NEW COUNTRY FESTIVAL (JULY 26 TO JULY 28, 2019)
A dancing saloon, farm animals, local and international artist performances, camping and caravaning right on the site, horseback rides, food trucks, games for young and not so young alike; The festival takes the centre stage in the friendly town of Brome and is a must for all those who have new country music in their blood.
FESTIVAL DE L’HUMOUR DE COWANSVILLE (AUGUST 2 TO AUGUST 24, 2019)
Prepare yourself for eight evenings filled with guaranteed laughter with this first edition of the comic festival! Stand-up comics and impersonators are joining forces to offer memorable performances in the magnificent Théâtre des Tournesols in Cowansville.
SUTTON’S TRADITIONAL FIDDLE FESTIVAL (AUGUST 15 TO AUGUST 18, 2019)
Festival goers abound from the four corners of the province, Ontario and the United States to attend this unique gathering where the sound of violins and folklore music shine at Veterans’ Park in Sutton. Enjoy outdoor and indoor concerts, traditional dances, activities for children, workshops and master classes, and savour local products while you’re here.
FESTIVAL DE CINÉMA DE KNOWLTON (AUGUST 22 TO AUGUST 25, 2019)
Cinephiles are invited to Théâtre Lac-Brome to watch short and feature-length films! Fiction, drama, comedies and documentaries as well as movies for children from Quebec, Canada and elsewhere in the world are scheduled on the festival program.
