Our quest for new adventures has us take the road to Bedford; a lovely town where hilltop breezes, majestic maples, and fields of corn come together to offer an amazing landscape.

Friday 4 p.m.

Finding the perfect abode

Maison Coslett-Saunders offers you a B&B formula in the heart of the village. This magnificent neo-gothic-style home welcomes you inside a warm decor with comfortable rooms and a charming terrace with a hot-tub set within a quiet garden.

Leave your bags and stretch your legs as you introduce yourself to the town. Right next door, you’ll find Jean Dunnigan’s nature sanctuary from where you’ll enjoy a close up view of the Rivière aux Brochets, the Pike River. Along with all the activities offered here, ornithologists will discover a bounty of sightings. As you head toward the downtown area, you’ll notice the architecture and design of the shops you’ll pass recall the typical New England “Main Street”!

Since it’s Cocktail Hour, why not let the bar l’Interlude appease your thirst. Situated in what is called the “Bloc Cyr”, a historical building dating back to the late 19th century, its second floor used to be a silent movie theatre, piano player and all.

7 p.m. An amazing Supper Awaits you at La Sarcelle

Your hosts welcome you with a menu inspired by the seasons, healthy and always savory! Bring your own wine and enjoy the small town ambiance where different cultures come together and complete each other.

Saturday all mapped out!

Wake up to the delicious aromas of a hearty breakfast and get ready for a most fascinating day.

The Heritage circuit will have you discover over 48 picturesque km of history: Mystic where you’ll find the famous twelve sided barn of the Domaine Wallbridge, Stanbridge—East with its magnificent mill/Museum, Pigeon Hill and St-Armand rich in anecdotes and legends dating back to the first settlers.

Domaine du Ridge

The road also follows La Route des Vins. As you come across vineyards such as Le Domaine du Ridge, le Domaine de L’Ardennais and Pigeon Hill’s organic wines, take the time to sample their refined elixirs.

As lunchtime approaches, a short detour will lead you toward the delightful town of Freligshburg. There, the Lyvano, a quaint restaurant by the river, greets its patrons with a unique and tasty menu.

For our more athletic visitors, the circuit is easily done by bike; however, we suggest you bring your bike bags for all those little treasures you will find on your way.

As you complete your tour, treat yourself at the Centre de Santé Euro-spa. Surrounded by lush farmland, the health centre offers bath and treatment proposals that will give you back all the energy you need to enjoy your last evening in the country.

7 p.m. Supper at L’Oeuf

Your hosts will warmly greet you in their general store setting with an exquisite gourmet menu. Their ice cream counter and shelves are stocked with totally irresistible local products.

Saturday Night, we’re stepping out!

The Belvédère on Main Street in Bedford is the place to be! Good beer, good music, and a great atmosphere come together and promise you a good time!

Lazy Sunday!

Early morning is the best time to kayak the Pike River. Bedford’s recreational department offers five circuits depending on the conditions of the moment. What a perfect way to commune with this opulent nature.

Noon … lunch anyone?

The Café Rouge welcomes you with its selection of soups, salads and sandwiches. A great choice for this last day of your getaway.

Before leaving town make sure to stop at Capeline et Chocolat to purchase your very own whippet!

Contentment, energy and feeling your senses come to life, this is what you will have acquired after 48 awesome hours spent in this unique and welcoming region.
