4 RESTAURANTS OFFERING A VEGETARIAN MENU IN BROME-MISSISQUOI

In Brome-Missisquoi, amateurs of well-prepared veggies will never feel left out! Here are 4 delightful addresses where, because of their ambiance and cuisine, true vegetarians as much as hardcore meat lovers will all be pleased.

L’Archipel, restaurant & Café, Cowansville

As we open the pink door of L’Archipel, we enter the home of hipsters and young families of the area. L’Archipel is much more than a restaurant: It’s a place for sharing and welcomes guests with its well-stocked library, its sofa and piano, where healthy meals are always being served. Behind the stove, young, up-and-coming cooks prepare traditional vegetarian meals with their own creativity: Tempeh meals in a bowl, veggie burgers, chili, chia pudding… Dishes that we can pair with locally produced wines from our Route des Vins. During milder seasons, we can take our latte or kombucha on their inviting terrace overlooking Davignon lake or while sitting at the end of the dock with both feet in the water! Intimate concerts are given every Thursday evening, with the Culture Club program.

Chez Moi Chez Toi, Brome Lake

Right at home! It is how we feel when we sit at our table in this unlikely somewhat secluded restaurant in Brome Lake. Except that the food we savour here has us travel far from home. . . What we find, in what used to be known as the Shack à Patate, is an eclectic decor and the hospitality and flavours of India. The menu offers several delicious non-meat dishes, with respect to the culture of India. I tried their green onion fritters—delicious—the generous vegetarian thali, a true classic! In short, authentic Indian food, comforting and affordable, a no-fuss service to be enjoyed among friends, family, as a couple or all by yourself. Their counter seating welcomes its regulars and is convivial for great new encounters! They’re often full from Thursday to Saturday evenings, so think about reserving ahead.

Gaïa, Vegan Restaurant, Bromont

In the Vieux Village of Bromont where several great food spots are located, Gaïa (Previously Pur et Simple) is now among the “Go to Places” to eat. Inside this totally vegan, locally provisioned restaurant, you won’t find a trace of animal products. The 100% organic menu proposes, among others, a selection of buckwheat crepes—the flour is milled on site every morning—, tonic drinks, smoothies and lacto fermented drinks, but also comforting refined meals such as their eggplant mac’n cheese. They also serve platters of “faux cheeses” and a delicious soft vegan ice cream. I promise you: Milk lovers will be totally seduced! I love the heated terrace where blankets are offered to extend that summer feeling.

Le Cafetier, Sutton

Every hour of the day, locals and tourists alike walk in this village café located in the heart of Sutton. Vegetarians and meat lovers all find something to satisfy their palates at affordable prices! In fact, Le Cafetier always has a vegetarian option posted on its blackboard along with many vegetarian dish selections on their menu: Homemade Veggie-pâté, tofu burgers, grilled cheese beets and arugula, vegetable omelettes, just to name just a few.

People come here to grab a quick meal before hitting the mountain trails or to warm up with a cup of home roasted coffee after a day of skiing. Included, you’ll find a friendly, unpretentious typical Sutton atmosphere.
